About Brooks
I pride myself on the genuine and deep relationships I have with my students. I have taught at non-profit youth orchestras and a music camp for girls and transgender youth for four years, and have attended several trainings on trauma and disability informed care and culturally responsive sustainable education. My students have been recognized as exceptional by the Carlson-Berne foundation who funds weekly lessons for one of my previous advanced students, Cincinnati's School for the Creative and Performing Arts who has accepted multiple of my students, and OMEA All-State Orchestra which placed one of my students fourth chair in the state of Ohio.

Lessons will consist of personalized warm ups, exercises, and repertoire that helps students develop the skills they need to thrive in any musical setting. My approach is to incorporate all aspects of musicianship into teaching an instrument; from music theory to technique to caring for ones physical and mental health as a musician. Students should expect accomplishable but regimented practice assignments between lessons, and are expected to practice and prepare between lessons.
I accept students of all ages and levels if there is adequate access to a double bass and a computer, but the best suited double bass students for me would be high school students who want to prepare to audition for colleges, advanced middle school students, and college undergraduates.
I teach classical as well as jazz and bluegrass. Lessons are catered to the individual needs of each student.
I am also accepting music theory tutoring students, and electric bass and acoustic guitar students.
