About Aina
Hey there, I'm Aina (pronounced Eye-Na). I graduated from University of Sheffield with a Distinction for my MA Digital Media and Society degree, and first-level marks for all research-related courses. My undergrad is in Communications Research, which I completed with a Distinction-equivalent mark (Magna Cum Laude honors). Aside from my education, I have worked as a market research professional for 6 years, for several businesses in Oxford and Manila, Philippines. That's 12 years total of research papers, analysis, and reports -- and counting!
Research can be intimidating, but I believe it can be exciting, powerful and fun when simplified! That's why I am eager to share my knowledge and skills from academic and professional work, now as a tutor and mentor.
Outside tutoring, I enjoy music (piano playing, playlist making, ugly singing), films & TV, and food & drink!
With this, I can also teach music theory & piano playing, and Filipino/ Tagalog language.

I believe in the concept of varying learning styles - therefore, I start my lessons with a quick introduction and identification of the best learning approach we can use. If you prefer an informal, formal or interactive, lecture-focused, etc - I am flexible so we can maximise what works for you!
Afterwards, I will provide the topic outline for the session and check which part you are interested in focusing more time on. Usually, this is where it is useful for you to share your current assignments or school task (if relevant), so I can ensure to cover the priorities you have.
A typical lesson would contain:
- 20 minutes of theoretical lessons
- 15 minutes of examples/ case studies
- The rest of the session is going through an exercise/ live problem together and clarifying any questions or points you want to explore further
This plan is flexible and can be adjusted to your preferences and needs.
