About Alison
Hi! I’m Alison — I was born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK, so I’m fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Growing up between cultures has given me a deep appreciation for language and communication, and I love helping others explore the beauty of Chinese in an engaging, relaxed way. I have a BA in Philosophy and an MSc in Psychology, which means I understand how people learn differently and can adapt my lessons to suit your pace and goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your fluency, I’ll guide you step by step — with patience, humour, and encouragement. Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking desserts, crafting, and discovering new cultures. My classes are friendly, interactive, and never boring — I want you to enjoy learning as much as I enjoy teaching!

Hi! I’m Alison, and I teach Mandarin and Cantonese to learners of all levels — from complete beginners to those who want to improve their conversational fluency. My lessons are friendly and relaxed, just like chatting with a friend, but still structured enough to help you make real progress. I focus on helping students speak naturally and confidently, while also improving pronunciation, listening, and vocabulary. Depending on your goals, we can also include writing, grammar, or cultural topics. Each session usually lasts around 60 minutes, and I always tailor the lesson to your interests — whether you want to travel, work, or connect with family through the language. I hold a BA in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Psychology, which helps me design lessons that fit different learning styles and keep you motivated. My classes are ideal for teens and adults, and for anyone who prefers learning in a supportive, encouraging environment.
