About Aryabhata Abacus & Vedic Maths Academy
Every parent wants their child to feel confident with math-to look at a problem and think, “I can do this.” I understand that feeling because my journey as a teacher began with me being a parent first.
I’m a Math Educator with 10 years of experience, specializing in Mental Math, Abacus and Vedic Math. When my daughter was 5, we enrolled her in an Abacus program hoping it would make her faster and more confident with numbers. After about 10 months, I noticed that although she could use the physical abacus, she struggled to calculate independently without it. I wanted to understand what was missing.
I began researching, practicing and working with her at home. By combining Abacus with visualization and mental calculation, I helped her gradually move from seeing the beads to imagining numbers in her mind. Over time, she became more comfortable with numbers, more independent in solving problems and, most importantly, more confident.
That experience changed the way I thought about teaching and eventually led to the creation of Aryabhata Abacus & Vedic Maths Academy (AAVMA) in 2016.
Today, I bring that same perspective to every child I teach. I look beyond the answer—I pay attention to how a child thinks, where they get stuck and what helps them understand. Some children need more time, some need a different explanation, while others are ready for greater challenges. I adapt my teaching to each child rather than expecting everyone to learn in the same way.
My focus is to help children progress from using an abacus → visualizing numbers → calculating mentally, while developing stronger number sense, calculation speed, accuracy, problem-solving and confidence.
My online lessons are for children aged 6–16, from beginners to students who want to strengthen or extend their math skills alongside their regular school learning.
After 10 years of teaching, the moment I value most is still the same: seeing a child who once said “I can't do this” begin to say, “Let me try.” That change in confidence is what keeps me passionate about teaching.

My Teaching Approach- With 10 years of experience teaching children, I know that every child learns Math differently. Some need more time, some need a different explanation, and others need more challenge.
I specialize in Mental Math and essential Math skills, using Abacus, Vedic Math, visualization and mental calculation techniques to build number sense, speed, accuracy, concentration and confidence.
I adapt each lesson to the child's age, level, pace and individual needs. I focus on progress rather than comparison and make sure children understand a concept before moving forward.
A Typical Lesson- I don't follow exactly the same lesson plan with every child. The lesson depends on the child's age, level and what they need to work on.
Lessons usually include:
Mental Math warm-up and revision
A new concept or calculation technique
Guided and independent practice
Mental calculation, speed and accuracy activities
Patient correction of mistakes
Review and practice for the next lesson
I use visual explanations, step-by-step examples and extra practice when needed. Students who are ready for more challenging work are encouraged to progress further.
What Matters to Me-
After years of teaching, I have seen how a small improvement can change a child's attitude towards Math. I encourage children to try, make mistakes and learn without being afraid of getting an answer wrong.
For me, success is not only faster calculation. It is seeing a child become more confident and eventually say, "I can do this myself."
