About Matthew
I graduated high school in 2018 at the top of my class for science and math courses, and went on to play college baseball while taking my degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology at Mayville State University. I received my undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.80 and Cum laude academic honors.
I was a team captain for both high school hockey and collegiate baseball athletics, always finding myself in a leadership role.
I am currently an employee of the University of North Dakota where I am completing my Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences and performing lab research. The lab I work in studies the therapeutic possibilities of stem cells found in the diaphragm muscle, and how we can use them to hopefully cure Muscular Dystrophy Disorder.
Most importantly, I am a personable guy who will find a way to make learning more enjoyable, especially in a topic as complex as science can seem.

I use a connective approach when teaching biology concepts and while learning new biochemistry concepts in Grad school currently. This approach involves connecting rather abstract concepts or to their respective functions through telling a story. I value interactive learning via activities, storytelling, and creation of models over repetition and mindless note taking. I will increase student's confidence in their understanding of basic human biology all the way up to high school level microbiology and genetics. I am very adaptable and believe in finding the method of learning that best suits the student. I am able to teach science concepts from K-12 and beyond. I look forward to learning with you soon, science is an amazing field!
