About Avery
I'm a rising senior at the University of Wisconsin studying Civil Engineering. In high school, I worked at Mathnasium for two years, teaching math to students of all ages, and I've also done private tutoring in the past. I've worked with lots of different students with different learning styles and skill levels, and have learned to be adaptable in my teaching style.
With all of that being said, I think that some of my most valuable tutoring experience comes from being tutored myself. As an engineering student, I am familiar with the frustration that comes with challenging coursework. Tutoring has been one of the most valuable resources in my own education, and I think those experiences have made me a better tutor. I've experienced firsthand what strategies are effective and what helps students best build understanding.

The first step in learning difficult material is understanding it in a way that makes sense to you. I'm here to help students understand concepts by breaking down complex ideas into a clear explanation. There are many ways to think about math problems, and I'm here to help students find a way that makes sense for them.
I have experience working with students of all ages and skill levels. In a typical tutoring session, I start with an explanation of a concept, then move into example problems. I find that collaborative problem-solving and working through problems together is very helpful, especially for more advanced concepts.
