I teach Persian language to those who tend to travel to Iran, continue their studies in Iran, do business there, or in fields of study such as Oriental Studies, Middle East Studies, History, Language, Literature, Cultural Studies, etc… need to know Persian and Arabic languages. Also, since Persian literature is one of the most prolific and advanced literatures in the world, those interested in world literature and comparative literature can get acquainted with classical and contemporary Iranian literary texts in my class, which are full of wisdom, mysticism, and ethics.
With years of experience teaching both language and literature at the university level to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, I know there is no single "preset method" for success. Students can quickly internalize fancy terms, maybe because they have easy connotations; while struggling in basic conjugation. That's why our classes will be fully customized to your needs.

I’ve been taking Persian lessons with Madineh for a year now, working on both language skills and classical literature. I’ve studied the language for a number of years and in a number of diverse settings, and she is simply the best teacher I’ve had: an extremely diligent, warm, and caring teacher, she has a real talent for efficiently conveying difficult linguistic and contextual information. She plans lessons that are fun and at the same time intellectually rewarding — no surprise given her PhD-level academic expertise in Persian and Arabic literatures, and her deep love for and understanding of Iranian culture. Long story short, she is both a highly professional, top-notch teacher and just a lovely person to study and interact with. No need to look elsewhere.
Madineh is an amazing teacher of the Persian language. She can teach from the basic fundamentals to advance Persian poetry from Rumi, Hafez and Firdowsi. She is super patient with her students and generous with her time. True master of her craft and she loves teaching. She will immerse you in the Persian culture.
I had online Farsi classes with Miss Madineh for more than a year. She is an exceptional Farsi teacher who truly brings the language to life. Her passion for both the language and Persian culture is evident in every lesson. She goes far beyond simply teaching grammar and vocabulary; she weaves in rich explanations of history, traditions, poetry, and everyday customs. This holistic approach doesn't just help me understand how to speak Farsi, but also why people speak and think the way they do. Her enthusiasm is infectious, making every lesson engaging and something I genuinely look forward to. She is, without a doubt, a fantastic teacher.
I met Madineh in an university institute where she was teaching years ago. Had a very nice human contact and kept taking her classes online after leaving the institute. A teacher with rich scientific background and highly recommended !
We have been studying more than a year, and have improved a lot from my absolute beginner Persian level. Classes are fun and she is very helpful inside and outside the class. Even though I don't have any academic aim, I am highly immersed and motivated through the classes and have gotten familiar with Iranian culture. She is one of the most qualified teachers I have ever worked with and a great person. I highly recommended her!
I have been studying Persian (Farsi) with Madineh Karami for approximately two years. During this time, our work has included both systematic grammar instruction and close readings of modern and classical Persian literary texts. Our collaboration has been sustained, rigorous, and intellectually demanding, allowing me to assess her teaching skills and scholarly competence in depth.
Madineh is not a conventional language instructor whose focus is limited to grammar and vocabulary acquisition. She is a teacher with a deep command of Persian literature and cultural history, and she integrates these dimensions into language learning in a deliberate and effective way. This approach enables the student not only to learn Persian as a functional language, but also to acquire a genuine familiarity with its literary and cultural traditions.
We initially worked through all four volumes of the Farsi Biyamuzim series. In particular, the fourth volume—which includes adapted classical and modern literary texts for intermediate to upper-intermediate learners—was taught with remarkable care. Madineh’s patience, attention to textual detail, and strong sense of the historical and cultural contexts in which these works were produced transformed the learning process into a sustained engagement with Persian literature. Reading authors such as Sadegh Hedayat, Jalal Al-e Ahmad, Bozorg Alavi, and Mohammad Ali Jamalzadeh, alongside classical figures like Omar Khayyam, Rumi, Sa‘di Shirazi, and Nezami Ganjavi under her guidance felt like a gradual but steady journey into the core of Persian literary culture.
At a later stage, we moved on to reading original, unadapted texts by both modern and classical authors. We read Gholam-Hossein Sa‘edi’s The Mourners of Bayal together, as well as selections from Sa‘di’s Golestan and from the Divans and Masnavis of Hafez and Mawlana. As an academic working in comparative literature, I can confidently state that the level of our readings and discussions was comparable to undergraduate and graduate-level university courses. Madineh’s command of the texts went far beyond linguistic explanation; she consistently highlighted the cultural, historical, and semantic layers embedded in specific words, idioms, and stylistic choices. This made classical Persian texts significantly more accessible and intelligible.
In short, Madineh Karami combines extensive scholarly knowledge with strong pedagogical sensitivity. She makes learning Persian both intellectually rigorous and genuinely enriching, turning language instruction into a sustained cultural and literary practice. I recommend her without reservation to other members of the Superprof community, especially to students who are interested not only in learning Persian, but in understanding the literature and culture that give the language its depth and meaning.I've known Madineh for six years, she taught me Persian literature in Shiraz and she was a wonderful teacher. Now, we still read and study great works of Persian poetry together online.
Studying with Madineh is both intellectually, culturally and humanly an immense gain. She's technically very knowledgeable and pedagogical in Persian language and literature, in which she holds a PhD.
Moreover, relationally speaking, she is one of the kindest person I've ever met in my life. She's very patient and comprehensive, though firm and professional about creating the right kind of framework for the students to reach their learning goals.
She's also very curious about the world and about different cultures, and so she's someone who's really easy to talk to and you feel comfortable with.
I heartly recommend Madineh as a Super Prof.Madineh is an outstanding Farsi teacher with a PhD in Iranian literature. In addition to her expertise in Farsi, she has a strong command of Arabic, which allows her to approach the language and its literature with exceptional depth and precision.
Her extensive knowledge of Iranian poetry including the works of Saadi, Hafez, Rumi, and other classical poets enables her to explain texts clearly and insightfully. Her understanding of Arabic further enhances her interpretations, especially when analyzing poetic and literary nuances. I have learned a great deal from her classes.
Her courses are highly valuable for anyone interested in learning Farsi, particularly for students seeking a professional, academic, or in-depth exploration of Farsi literature and related languages. I highly recommend her as a teacher.Excellent teacher with a lot of patience and commitment; would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn persian. As Benjamin Franklin said: tell me and I forget, teach me and I will remember, involve me and I will learn.... she involves you into the persian language and culture and forces you to put it to use. She is a professional that has a methodology of teaching persian that actually works. If you have not given up on yourself and want to learn and advance in the persian language this is your opportunity!
I've known Dr. Madineh Karami closely for several years. She is a distinguished scholar and instructor of Persian language and literature. During these years I have consistently observed her intelligence, creativity, strong work ethic, and highly organized teaching style. She has extensive experience teaching international students and has demonstrated exceptional skills in effectively conveying concepts of the Persian language and Iranian culture.
I confidently recommend Dr. Karami for any educational or academic positions related to Persian language and literature.
I am a PhD history student from Turkey, studying in the US. I have been taking Persian and occasional Arabic classes from Medine Hoca. Before studying with her, I attended multiple schools and worked with different language tutors. She is the most competent teacher (in any subject) I have ever had.
The reason is very simple: she has studied and contrasted these languages academically and continues to sharpen her skills. She is highly experienced in matching terms, phrases, and contexts with their counterparts in other languages, and she excels at identifying where students stumble in this process. Countless times, she has helped me understand a context that I couldn't even explain why I was struggling to grasp in the first place.
In short, Medine Hoca has a great intuition for diagnosing the problem when her student falters in the target language. And she is a very kind person. I highly recommend her.View more recommendations
