About Ava

I’m Ava, a passionate and approachable tutor currently studying for my MSc at the London School of Economics (LSE). Having graduated from the University of Bristol with a First Class Honours in Geography, I know the importance of not only working hard but also finding learning methods that really click. Tutoring gives me the chance to share the strategies that helped me succeed and to support students in building both knowledge and confidence. I’ve worked with students of different backgrounds and abilities, including volunteering with Jacari to tutor a child from a refugee family, which taught me the value of patience, encouragement and tailoring lessons to each learner’s needs. I enjoy making subjects like Geography, Biology and Sociology come alive by connecting them to real-world examples. Above all, I want my lessons to feel like a safe and supportive space where students feel motivated and capable of reaching their potential.

About the lesson

I take a supportive and structured approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to the student’s needs and learning style. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable explanations and then applying this understanding through past papers, exam technique practice, and revision strategies. Lessons are usually one hour, but I can offer longer sessions if needed, especially for intensive exam preparation. I hold a First Class Honours degree in Geography from the University of Bristol and am currently completing my MSc in Environment and Development at the London School of Economics (LSE). I also have three A*s at A-Level in Geography, Biology and Sociology, and top grades across my GCSEs, including a 9–9 in Combined Science. Alongside my academic background, I have mentoring experience through Jacari, supporting a child from a refugee background with English and schoolwork, which developed my ability to explain ideas patiently and encourage confidence. My lessons are ideal for GCSE and A-Level students studying Geography, Biology, Sociology or Combined Science, whether you’re aiming for top grades or looking for extra support to strengthen your understanding and confidence in class.
