About Rebecca
I am a curious person, and I believe that curiosity is the key to much of academic success! Anyone can be curious, and anyone can learn the techniques needed to achieve in their subject of choice.
Although I am currently pursuing a postgraduate research degree in the History of Science, with a view to continuing on to a PhD and building a career as an academic, I have also attained degrees other fields including Fine Art and Political Sociology. This is because I believe in the value of learning from many different disciplines/areas of knowledge.
Studying these different fields showed me that each has a particular language and way of working, which, if you learn them, allow you to succeed in these different areas. Although they might seem separate, often there are areas of overlap between concerns, questions, methods and ideas, which allow you to follow your passions and interests through them, fostering your curiosity and motivation to succeed. It is always a pleasure to assist someone in this process of discovery!

I strive to make my lessons a fun experience, working at the level and pace of my students in order to help them achieve their best. I typically offer an introductory session to evaluate a student's preferred learning style/needs and expectations of the tutoring experience.
Sessions may consist of introductory exercises/content reviews, before building on understanding with scaffolding or reciprocal teaching, finishing with challenges to review and apply a student's learning.
Lessons are 1 hour and suitable for students age 11+. Because I believe in meeting students where they are, my lessons can be adapted to suit a range of ages/levels.
