I understand firsthand, how truly difficult learning another language might be. With the minimal Spanish experience I had before being sent to Mexico for 2 years on a mission, I had to learn how to read, write, and speak to survive. It was hard but I was able to develop methods to learn faster than my peers. I now love the language of Spanish, and look forward to helping people also come to love it, or grow a little more in their knowledge. Or maybe just pass their class.

My approach as a tutor is centered on patience, communication, and adapting to each student’s individual needs. I believe the best way to learn a language is through a combination of clear instruction, conversation, repetition, and practical application. I try to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident making mistakes and asking questions, because mistakes are an important part of learning.
My teaching method would include a balance of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, listening, and conversational practice. I would adjust my approach depending on the student's current level and goals. For beginners, I would focus on foundational vocabulary, basic grammar, pronunciation, and everyday phrases. For more advanced students, I would place greater emphasis on conversation, comprehension, writing, and natural Spanish usage.
A typical lesson would begin with a short review of material from the previous lesson, followed by an introduction to the day's topic. We would then practice new vocabulary or grammar together before applying it through conversation, exercises, or real-life scenarios. I would finish with a brief review and suggestions for what the student can practice independently before the next lesson.
What sets me apart is my firsthand experience using Spanish in everyday situations. I developed my Spanish through extensive real-world interaction while living and serving in Mexico for two years. I am currently at approximately a B2–C1 level and am comfortable communicating with native Spanish speakers. This experience has helped me understand not only formal Spanish, but also conversational language, cultural differences, and the importance of being able to communicate naturally rather than simply memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules.
My lessons would be best suited for students beginning or continuing their study of Spanish, including high school or college students who want additional practice with their coursework, as well as individuals learning Spanish for personal or conversational purposes. I am especially interested in helping students build confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish in real-life situations.
