About Stephen
I have a masters degree in philosophy, and much of my previous work and studies have involved applying traditional philosophic tools to analyze histories of race and gender in the United States. I have directly taught in classrooms of up to twenty-eight students and have a proven track record of working through difficult and intricate texts with students. I also have direct experience with one-on-one writing tutoring with goals set by students.

I approach teaching through direct discussion based engagement with students. This approach treats students as individuals with valuable contributions and the ability to develop and utilize their own intellectual abilities to academic problems. My ideal classroom is one of open-ended collaboration and respect where students are able to set and meet continually revised academic goals.
