About Toby
I love the subjects I teach, and coming from a family of engineers I hold a passion for STEM subjects that I would love to be able to pass on to others. Alongside my academic qualifications I have helped build my school's Greenpower Car and have designed a Computational Fluid Mechanics solver in Python (my crowning achievement - I believe). Besides that I'm an accomplished musician and Basketballer, and I work as a chef some evenings.

I employ a balanced approach to tutoring, combining direct instruction with Problem Based Learning, helping to engage you in the subject. The direct instruction allows me to provide clear explanations and step-by-step guidance through topics, giving a great foundation on top of which I can help you through problems and tasks that I give, letting you enhance your skills through practice and repetition. My lessons can be between 30-60 minutes long depending on preference, to make sure attention span isn't much an issue! I have experience as a tutor through lessons and support I've given students at my own school, helping in programmes set up to support exam years doing their GCSEs as well as students just starting out on a subject that want to give themselves a great starting point. My qualifications are A levels in Maths, Physics and CS, with a level 9 GCSE in DT too. I'm going on to study Motorsport Engineering at University. My lessons are for students studying for their GCSEs, ages 13-16.
