About Sophie

With over 10 years’ experience as a class teacher and SENCo, I am a Level 5 Specialist Teacher in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), currently undertaking Level 7 training in Dyslexia Assessment. I support children who are finding reading, spelling and writing difficult, or who may be losing confidence in their learning.

My sessions are calm, supportive and tailored to each child, helping them not only make progress, but feel more confident, capable and positive about learning again.

If you feel your child is finding learning harder than it should be, or that something just isn’t quite clicking, I’d be very happy to chat.

A personalised, confidence-building approach:

Every child is different, so I tailor each session to their individual needs, strengths and pace of learning.

I use structured, multi-sensory teaching approaches that are proven to support children with dyslexia and literacy difficulties, breaking learning down into clear, manageable steps so it feels achievable rather than overwhelming.

Alongside building skills, a key focus is helping children feel more confident and less anxious about learning.

Understanding your child’s needs:

If your child already has a dyslexia assessment, I can help you understand the report and use it to design targeted, personalised sessions.

If they don’t have a formal diagnosis, I carry out informal assessments to build a clear picture of their strengths and areas of need, ensuring support is tailored from the very start.

What lessons feel like:

Lessons are calm, supportive and designed to help children feel comfortable and successful.

Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes and include:

Revisiting previous learning to build confidence
Clear, structured teaching of new skills
Engaging activities to practise reading, spelling and writing
Opportunities to consolidate learning at the right pace

- Level 5 Specialist Teacher in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
