About Rhiannon
Please note: I specialise in public law at the undergraduate level, but tutor for the entire A-Level course.
Public law is a subject where the difference between a good grade and an exceptional one is rarely content. Most students can identify the relevant cases and statutory provisions. What separates a First from a 2:1 is the ability to engage critically with the theoretical frameworks underneath, and to express that engagement in writing uniquely.
That is where I focus. As an active legal researcher, this is what I do daily. We do not only cover what the law is, but also why it works the way it does, where the tensions lie, and how to use that understanding to construct an analysis that examiners at the top level are looking for.
My first session is always an assessment. I want to know where you are, what your current written work looks like, and what specifically is holding your marks back. Every session after that is built around that individual picture.
A typical session begins by reviewing material from the previous session to consolidate understanding. We then work on the core skill or topic for that session, using case materials and scholarship where helpful. A significant part of every session is devoted to your writing: not correcting it for you, but working with you to develop a voice and style that is rigorous, precise, and distinctly yours. We close every session with a clear summary of what you have gained and what to work on before next time.
I am happy to mark written work between sessions and provide detailed written feedback.

I am a legal researcher and law graduate of the University of Oxford and Université Paris Panthéon-Assas, and public law is what I work in every day. I am a contracted sole author with Springer, involved in projects at OUP, and a legal researcher. I present my research internationally at universities and think tanks, including the Oxford Law Faculty and the Institut Catholique de Paris, and I have given lectures to masters level.
My specialist subject is criminal law, specifically how criminal frameworks respond to emerging technologies, but my undergraduate degree and current research cover the full public law curriculum across two jurisdictions, and constitutional and administrative law are central to my research. Whether you are working on judicial review, parliamentary sovereignty, the rule of law, human rights, or criminal liability, I bring active, expert knowledge to every session.
At the undergraduate level, the gap between a 2:1 and a First almost always comes down to moving from passive understanding of the case law, to active engagement with theory and the reasoning of the specific cases. From the very first session I assess where you are, identify what is holding your marks back, and design a plan around your specific needs. I tailor every session accordingly.
