About Petya
I want to teach because I genuinely love helping students discover that chemistry is something they can understand, enjoy, and feel confident in. Over the years, I’ve seen how the right explanation, the right moment of clarity, or the right encouragement can completely change a student’s relationship with the subject — and with themselves. I speak of my own experience as well.
Teaching has always been part of my scientific journey. I’ve mentored students, supported junior scientists, taught university modules, and guided teams through complex scientific work. Every time, the most rewarding part has been watching someone grow in confidence, find their voice, and realise their potential.
I’ve tutored before and truly enjoyed seeing my students progress into university life with pride and excitement. Those transformations stay with you.
Motherhood has deepened this even further. Raising my 11‑year‑old son has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of teaching with love. It reminded me that every learner is different — and that personalised support can unlock strengths they didn’t know they had.
I teach because I believe in the power of education, curiosity, and kindness. I teach because I want students to feel capable, supported, and inspired. And I teach because helping someone succeed — academically and personally — is one of the most meaningful things you can do.

Hello, I’m Petya — I have PhD in chemistry, i am mentor for the RSC, and senior scientific project manager with over 17 years of experience in chemistry, and mentoring .
I like helping A‑Level students build confidence, master exam technique, and finally understand the topics that feel overwhelming — from organic mechanisms to spectroscopy and calculations.
What I offer
Clear, structured explanations
Exam‑board aligned teaching (AQA, OCR, Edexcel)
Extra practice questions + past paper strategy
Study planning and revision support
A calm, encouraging learning environment
My teaching style is warm, patient, and highly personalised. I love helping students realise they can do chemistry — often far better than they think.
I have tutored in the past and truly enjoyed watching my students grow, succeed, and step confidently into their university journeys. Supporting that transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
I am also a proud mum of an 11‑year‑old boy. Motherhood has taught me invaluable lessons in patience, empathy, and teaching with love — qualities that shape every session I deliver.
I believe that a personalised approach to each student’s level and learning style is essential for achieving the best results. Alongside chemistry, I help students develop the soft skills that support long‑term success: perseverance, effective learning techniques, confidence, communication, and even early professional skills such as networking and CV writing.
If you’re looking for a tutor who brings clarity, kindness, and deep subject expertise, I’d be delighted to support your learning journey.

I have known Petya for several years and can confidently recommend her as a chemistry tutor. She is knowledgeable, patient, and explains even complex topics in a clear and easy-to-understand way. She adapts her teaching to each student’s level, encourages questions, and creates a positive learning environment that builds confidence. Petya is reliable, professional, and genuinely cares about her students’ progress. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated and effective chemistry teacher.
I have known Petya for 5 years and have found her to be reliable, responsible and personable. She is passionate about her subject and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in her field. She is patient and supportive and a great communicator. She can adapt to all levels and learning types and is an enthusiast when it comes to passing on her knowledge and focusing on objectives.
Petya and I worked together at one of the biggest global Contract Research Organisations that support pharma companies during their drug development projects. Her expertise was valued not only amongst our customers but also the entire department of more than fifty staff. Whenever senior and junior staff struggled with chemistry-related questions, Petya was the expert with the knowledge and patience to explain in easily digestible portions (hardly any of us had A-level chemistry knowledge). I always enjoyed seeing her enthusiasm in general for science and in particular for chemistry. Never a step too far, never a lack of invention to teach and explain until she is satisfied that the chemistry is understood. Your kids will love her. She’s ‘cool. ;-)
I was one of Petya's supervisors during her PhD training at Cranfield University. As well as being a knowledgeable and excellent chemist in the lab, Petya was always keen on teaching others about her science, including a poster session held in the Houses of Parliament, judged by Prof. Brian Cox, where she went above and beyond to demonstrate her enthusiasm and knowledge, including commissioning a custom visual aid! She has aided in the training of juniors in our lab, and so demonstrated patience and communication skills. I know that she has tutored in the past and is herself a parent to an 11 year-old son. Her articles, self-published on LinkedIn also show how she can communicate complex scientific facts in a straightforward and clear manner. I believe Petya would be an asset as a tutor in Chemistry.
