About Finn
I'm experienced, interesting and enthusiastic! I've learned a few languages, so I know the difficulties and best techniques, which I hope to share with you! I have a CELTA qualification and over 8 years of English teaching experience. I have a BA degree in Philosophy from the University of Kent and ran over 70 philosophy workshops in Kairos Town language and culture centre here in Spain since 2014. We can discuss a range of topics related to philosophy; psychology, ethics, veganism and animal rights, to science fiction, futurology or history; you name it - we can talk about it!
I'm from London but I moved to Andalucía 8 years ago, so I can speak Spanish. I prefer the hotter weather and the late lunches (and siestas!). I also speak Dutch because that's where my mum's family are from! I'm know some French and a tiny but of Norwegian too. I really love music and I play a few instruments, along with teaching Handpan here on Superprof. I also love running/lifting/yoga, I DJ and like painting.

What are we doing here?! What gives my life meaning? Why do we question things? Are you truly free? Is negative freedom as important as positive freedom? Do you believe in fate and/or destiny? Is ignorance really bliss? How do you know we're not living in a Matrix? How should we live our lives? How can we make the world a better place? Why do some people sound convincing when you know they are wrong?
Welcome to Open Thinking – Philosophy in English, with me, Finn! I believe that through questions such as these, when paired with clear and logical thinking, reflection and open discussion, we can develop and deepen our thinking skills. We really are “doing” philosophy!
If you're keen to master thinking in English and ready to truly develop your oral expression skills, get in touch for a philosophy class with me! I've been an English teacher for over 8 years, almost 3 of which here on italki. I have a BA degree in Philosophy from the University of Kent and ran over 70 philosophy workshops in Kairos Town language and culture centre here in Spain since 2014. I'll note down corrections in a unique Google Doc just for you so that you have a list of all mistakes, new vocabulary or any grammar that comes up in our classes.
I'm currently offering 1-2-1 classes (but plan on opening up group workshops soon) and have prepared a course of 50 philosophical topics for the English classroom, where we will examine existence, ethics, art, psychology, critical thinking and many other related topics.
I will give a short 5-10 minute explanation of each topic in clear and simple terms (very little philosophical vocabulary, where I do, I will explain it) and then we will get into discussing the ideas. I will send materials relevant to the lesson before our class so you can study and get familiar with the ideas. I recommend having an English level of B2 or higher for group classes, although it could be lower for 1-2-1...

I've studied with FInn for about a year, preparing for my IELTS Academic exam in order to studiy in Scotland. I already had a basis speaking English however with Finn's interactive metodology of teaching and friendly way of communication I've greatly improved my level of English and achieved C1 (7 of 9 total points) level afterwards. Honestly, I've never felt myself more fresh, fluent, and well-prepared in English thah during the period of my studying with Finn. Currently I'm rushing German, so our paths with Finn don't cross, however I can strongly and for sure reccomend him as your language tutor. Don't be shy to write him, you'll never miss time or money spent for studing with this great person.
Listening to Finn play the handpan is one of the most soothing and peace enducing activities. What's more is that he's a very patient, fun and constructive person which reflects well in his teaching. Take this great opportunity now!
I had the pleasure of being a student of Finn, who I can confidently say is one of the best English teachers I have ever had.
His teaching style was incredibly engaging. One of the things that I found really interesting about Finn, was his ability to connect with me on a personal level.
Overall, I would highly recommend Finn as an English teacher. He’s truly passionate about the subject and his dedication to the students is unmatched.Finn is amazing teacher: attentive, fun and knowing how to make lessons interesting. Like your friend but making your progress.
I’ve been taking handpan classes from Finn for over a month now and I can easily say that he is one of the most down to earth people I’ve ever met and an amazing instructor. It does not only feel like you’re ‘learning’ but also you’re ‘playing’ handpan with another musician. Great experience, great teacher and very friendly sessions. %1000 recommended and looking forward to my future handpan sessions with Finn for a long time!!
He is on time to the lesson and has a preprepared lesson customized to my desired music goals. He has a great personality and is very knowledgeable with the instrument I’m wanting to learn. I’d recommend him to anyone wanting to learn a new instrument or further their skills on an old instrument.
