About Manchester Tutoring
I have 35 years' experience in wide-ranging performance and recording situations, as well as individual guitar tuition, along with 16 years teaching in a college at both FE and HE levels. As a keen composer, I have also recorded my own material.
Music and learning an instrument can be a lifelong journey and I look forward to helping you with your own.

hi, my name is Simon.
While I always adapt my teaching to the individual learner, at whatever level, I have specialisms in jazz and blues improvisation, as well as the use of finger picking styles and open tunings on acoustic guitar. I aim to help students develop a coherent understanding of the theoretical relationships which can be developed from a wide range of scale material and the chords and arpeggios they generate, but equally realise some people have a 'limited tolerance' for theory.
I can also give help with songwriting, composition and arranging, as well as the use of effects, and can teach music notation if required.
I have experience of teaching people with dyslexia, Asperger's syndrome, and mental health issues.
Since I will be cycling, I would prefer to limit the travel radius to 3 miles, but can teach from home for those outside this area
