About Ronan
I have a passion for Irish. I didn't always have it in school, but when I started to focus on Irish more and more, I realised that the language isn't as bad as it is in school. That's why I want to teach. I want to show people that Irish isn't just learning off essays and quotes, that there's actual meaning to the language and that there are communities that speak the language everywhere. I want to help people learn Irish, if they're willing, through more fun approaches and less learning things off-by-heart.
I am currently in Spain on Erasmus, but still try to use my Irish whenever I can! I worked in the Ring Gaeltacht (County Waterford) for summer 2023 aiming to document and preserve the Irish language and her dialects.

This year, I am providing grinds for the Irish Oral Examination which takes place over the Easter holidays. I have had excellent success in this area, with students seeing massive improvements in the weeks leading up to the exam and earning themselves 90%+ in the oral.
My approach to oral grinds is not pages and pages of notes. The oral examination is spoken, and so the focus should be on the student's comfort and ability to speak. We take the oral methodically, breaking down where marks are easiest to gain and how much each section of the oral is worth. The aim? To maximise the marks and minimise the stress.

Ronan was a great tutor and Lucy benefited immensely from hee grinds with him. He helped Lucy get a higher merit in H Irish and more importantly helped her gain confidence! I would highly recommend Ronan!
I took Irish grinds with Ronan for several weeks before my leaving cert oral. My teacher in school was no use at all and I had barely spoken the language in class throughout fifth and sixth year. Thanks to Ronan I was able to practice speaking and understanding Irish. He taught me much regarding the different dialects, pronunciation, grammar and planning for the conversation. I ended up getting 94% in the Oral
Rónán is an excellent teacher who was very patient with me. He transformed my grade from a H5 to a H3. I could hardly believe the difference myself. I would highly recommend him!
