About Maxim

Want to speak Russian confidently and understand how native speakers really communicate? I am a native Russian speaker and a certified teacher of Russian as a foreign language.

My teaching journey began in 2017, when my university English teacher invited me to help teach Russian to international students. This experience inspired me to earn a professional qualification, and since graduating in 2021, I’ve been working with students from the USA, the UK, Austria, France, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and Australia.

I can help you learn Russian if you:

Have a Russian-speaking partner, spouse, friend, or family member and want to communicate with them more easily.
Are interested in Russian culture and want to understand the language, traditions, literature, music, and everyday life.
Have Russian roots and want to reconnect with your heritage or communicate with Russian-speaking relatives.
Need Russian for school or work and want to improve your communication skills for academic or professional situations.
Have another reason for learning Russian — feel free to tell me about your goals, and we can adapt the lessons to your needs.

I tailor each lesson to your goals, level, interests, and learning pace, focusing on practical communication and steady progress. My classes are structured, practical, and designed to help you start using Russian from your very first lessons. We work with a textbook and workbook while integrating grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, and listening into our lessons. For example, after learning new vocabulary or completing a grammar exercise, I’ll ask you questions in Russian so you can naturally use new words and grammar in your answers. This approach helps you remember new material more effectively and build confidence when speaking.

  • 1. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My interest in teaching Russian developed naturally because it is my native language and an important part of my identity. However, my passion for education grew thanks to the inspiring teachers I met throughout my life. They showed me how much impact a dedicated teacher can have on a student’s confidence and success. Their example motivated me to share my language and culture with others and eventually become a teacher myself.
  • 2. What makes you passionate about your subject?

Russian is much more than a language—it is a gateway to a rich culture, history, and way of thinking. I am fascinated by the complexity of Russian grammar and how naturally native speakers use rules that learners often find challenging. Helping students understand these concepts and watching their progress is incredibly rewarding. I love showing learners that even difficult aspects of Russian can become enjoyable and accessible with the right guidance.
  • 3. What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a “Superprof”?

What I enjoy most about tutoring is building connections with students and helping them achieve goals they once thought were impossible. Every learner is different, so I adapt my teaching style to match their needs, interests, and learning preferences. As a native Russian speaker with a teaching certification, I combine professional knowledge with practical experience. I also study foreign languages myself, which helps me understand the challenges students face and create lessons that are supportive, effective, and engaging.
  • 4. Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes, several teachers have inspired me throughout my life. They were passionate, patient, and always encouraged their students to keep learning. One of my teachers had a particularly strong influence on me. I remember that whenever a student made a mistake, she never simply said, "That's wrong." Instead, she would ask questions and guide us until we discovered the correct answer ourselves. This approach made us think, analyze, and become more confident learners. Their dedication showed me that great teaching is not only about knowledge but also about motivating and supporting students. Their influence played a major role in my decision to become a teacher.
  • 5. What are your keys to success?

I believe the keys to success are consistency, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning. Language learning is a gradual process, and steady practice is far more effective than trying to learn everything at once. I also believe in learning through real-life context, reading, listening, and meaningful communication. As a teacher, I continuously improve my methods and adapt to my students’ needs, because success comes from both dedication and flexibility.
