About Ting-Ying
I’m a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan with a Diploma in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (Level 3). I have several years of language teaching experience, including two years as an English teacher and private English tutoring from 2019 to 2023. I also volunteered as a Chinese teacher at a school in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
I’m currently living in Brisbane and studying English in a C1-level class, so I understand both sides of language learning — being a teacher and being a student. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and making language learning practical, relaxed and meaningful.
I’d love to share not only Mandarin, but also the everyday language, culture and little details of life in Taiwan.

My lessons are practical, personalized and focused on helping you actually use Mandarin with confidence. I teach beginner Mandarin, Traditional Chinese, pronunciation, everyday conversation and Taiwanese culture.
Lessons can be adapted to your goals, whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, daily life, conversation or simply because you are interested in Taiwan. I can teach pronunciation using Pinyin and also introduce Zhuyin if you are curious about how Mandarin is learned in Taiwan.
I especially enjoy using real-life situations, such as ordering food, introducing yourself, traveling in Taiwan and having natural everyday conversations. Rather than simply memorizing vocabulary, you will practice using Mandarin in meaningful contexts.
Beginners are very welcome — lessons will be adjusted to your level and learning pace.

Details
Online lessons are $35/hour. Face-to-face lessons are available within 10 km of Brisbane City, with a $15 travel fee. For locations requiring longer travel, a minimum lesson duration may apply. Lesson packages are available at discounted rates.
