• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  Romanian is my native language. I grew up surrounded by it every day, hearing its rhythm, humour, and warmth. Later, I realised how much I enjoy helping others discover its beauty and expressiveness.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Eugen Ionesco and Mircea Eliade — one playful with words, the other deeply reflective. Together they show the soul of Romanian culture: witty, creative, and full of meaning.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  I love the words “dor” and “noroc.” “Dor” expresses a deep feeling of longing and affection that has no exact translation, while “noroc” means “luck” but is also used to greet people or raise a toast. Together they capture the emotion and warmth that make Romanian such a special language.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Romanian connects me to my roots and identity. Teaching it allows me to share that connection with others and help students experience the joy of understanding another culture through its language.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  Romanian can be challenging at first — not only because of grammar, but also pronunciation and rhythm, which are quite different from English. The key is consistent exposure and practice in real situations. My lessons combine grammar, vocabulary, and conversation so that learners develop understanding and confidence step by step.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  Early in my teaching, I realised that every learner needs a different path. One student memorised grammar quickly, another learned best through conversation. That experience shaped how I now tailor each lesson to individual strengths.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Travelling around different parts of Romania — from Iași to Bucharest — taught me how varied and musical the language can be. Hearing regional accents and expressions helped me appreciate its richness even more.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  I’m a qualified teacher (CELTA, QTLS) with over seven years of experience. My lessons are structured but relaxed, and always tailored to each student’s goals and level. I focus on real communication, cultural insight, and steady progress — helping learners gain confidence and enjoy the process of learning.
