About Skylar

Hello! I graduated high school with a 4.0 (4.55 weighted) GPA and as the Valedictorian. I completed 5 AP courses (US History, European History, Biology, Calculus, and English Literature), and received college credit for all. I participated in Dual Enrollment, entering college with nearly 50 credit hours already completed. While in high school I participated in several extracurriculars. I was a big band kid, playing in the Jazz Band, Honor Band, and leading the Marching Band as the Drum Major. I also was a Boy Scout, earning Eagle Scout and serving three terms as the Senior Patrol Leader. Lastly, I spent the summer before my Senior year at Centre College for the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program, studying Political and Legal Issues. I am now a Freshman at the University of Kentucky, studying both Public Policy and History. I am a member of the Lewis Honors College and am involved in several student organizations, mostly centered around social issues. Even in college, I am maintaining my 4.0 record and remain at the top of my class. In my free time, I do freelance writing and tutor my friends for their classes.

My teaching style follows the EDGE Method (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable), as developed by the Boy Scouts of America. I believe that guided work is the most important part of the learning process. I ask that you bring to our sessions your current assignments and we will work through similar examples together, then establish a strong foundation with which you will complete your assignment. I can meet on the University of Kentucky campus (the Willy T Library works great), work together online, or come to your house if you live close to campus. I excelled in my time in school, becoming my high school's valedictorian, attending the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program, and receiving a full tuition scholarship to the University of Kentucky. While in school I spent much of my free time working with my peers and tutoring them in their studies. I also have received plenty of education and leadership training from my time in countless extracurriculars. My services target anyone who will put in a genuine effort. I have always excelled in classes (K-college) and hope to use my skills to help others. I can provide service for anything from Elementary to Senior year.
