About Zarina
I am an English teacher with nearly twenty years work experience, teaching from year five up to adults. I have extensive experience teaching writing skills to English as a Foreign Language learners and they have gone on to being very confident and comfortable, even so far as marking the year six exams comfortably in the presence of other English teachers without requiring any help. One of my earlier students went to a school in America and got the highest marks that year (I was teaching in East Africa at the time). I have even taught government ministers on a short course.

Before teaching, I will see what areas the student needs help with. Many English as a Foreign Language learners struggle with sentence structure, vocabulary and grammar. I will then, once everything is agreed, do a short warm up (something relevant but lower than their level at present) and then give them a short reading. This text will cover the areas of vocabulary, grammar and structure that they are struggling with (language style needs to be taught so they are able to structure their written expressions well).
After the short warm up and reading, they will be required to answer a short set of comprehension questions. These questions are designed to refresh their vocabulary. After that, there will be grammar and structure exercises designed to draw their attention to the grammar and language style. Then they are to attempt a composition, using what they've learned and the reading text that I gave them earlier, to help them to express themselves in writing in the English language.
