About Alexa
Hi guys! My name is Alexa, I am an English teacher in the United States. I grew up in "surf city" Huntington Beach, just south of Los Angeles. I studied mechanical engineering at California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo, California and was a tutor throughout college. This year I left my life in California and moved to Rio to teach English and experience the life Carioca style!

I am very passionate about helping others learn English and sharing my culture! My methodology of English teaching involves total immersion in the language, meaning that from the first day of school I will speak almost exclusively in English with the students. While this may be difficult at first, I think it is the quickest way to achieve the desired result - speaking and understanding English!

Perfect! Alexa foi uma excelente professora, muito pontual, comunicativa e didática. Enfatizamos bastante a conversação e pelo fato dela ser nativa e entender o português, as aulas fluiram muito bem. Foi uma excelente oportunidade.
Perfect! Alexa is a great teacher who is willing to explain over and over if needed. She is a very kind teacher, and explains things with joy. She teaches you in a very kind way making sure you understand what is being taught. With her help, I got a huge improvement on my toefl score.

She has such a shining soul and her class to me is meaningful, inspiring and I'm always wondering when we will have our next meeting.- Maria is such a wonderful student! Perfect! I will tell the truth. The truth is Alexa is the best english teacher I've ever had in my life. I got to this conclusion from my last class. I'll try my best in order to keep the pace with her skills and her class level. She is very kind and considerate. She demonstrates a strong teaching skill, especially when explaining basic concepts and giving some tips about speaking, reading and pronunciation - they were really clarifying. In addition, she has a strong academic background which enriches all the experience. Essentially, I'm in awe of her abilities as a teacher and definitely looking forward to having my next class.
