About Emma
I have dedicated my life to making art, learning, and experimenting with different materials since completing my Fine Art degree at East London University in 1991. Over the years, I’ve continually developed my practice across painting, sculpture, and video art, alongside exhibiting my work and sharing knowledge with others. Teaching for me is not only about helping you develop strong artistic techniques — it’s also about nurturing your creative voice and giving you the confidence to grow as an artist.

About My Classes Preparation: Before we start, we’ll discuss what you’d like to learn and I’ll provide an equipment list tailored to your goals. During the class: Expect a constant dialogue. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions as we go, and I’ll give you clear instruction where you need it. Together, we’ll build up a piece of art from scratch. Along the way, you’ll learn techniques that reveal how materials behave, and I’ll set you small exercises to practise in your own time. Creative development: While you’re making, you’ll also gain full access to my creative and professional knowledge. We’ll cover not just technical skills, but also: Thinking like an artist Listening to your inner dialogue Risk-taking and softening your inner critic Overcoming creative blocks Valuing what you make Reading and interpreting art Presenting and communicating about your work Marketing and selling art A 3-hour session is an ideal amount of time to produce a small painting or sculpture, and to explore your creative process in depth.
