About Andrea
I’m a deeply curious person who finds joy in learning for its own sake. I read several books a week—history, science, politics, philosophy, fiction—anything that helps me see the world in a new way. I love big ideas, unexpected connections, and the kind of conversations that leave you thinking about things differently than when you started. Teaching, for me, is really about learning alongside someone else. I don’t come with all the answers—I come with questions, patience, and a commitment to helping you find your own way into the subject. Whether we’re discussing political systems, historical events, or working through an essay, I’m most interested in what sparks your curiosity and helps you grow in confidence. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys thinking deeply, asking questions, and stretching yourself intellectually, we’ll probably get along well.

I’ve spent the last thirty years working in politics, public policy, and higher education, and I enjoy helping students engage more deeply with the subjects I’ve worked in throughout my career. I hold a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in political science.
I work with high school and college students as well as adult learners. My approach is learner-directed: I’ll meet you where you are and help you discover the topics and questions that matter most to you.
Learning should be engaging and empowering, and at its best, a transformative experience. My goal isn’t just to help you pass a test or finish a paper, but to build the kind of understanding that can shift how you see the world and your place in it.
Sessions can be in person or online. $50/hour, with the first session free.
