About Jasmine
In my senior year during high school I was a english tutor to a group of few students who were struggling in my english class. Not only did I edit and provide feedback for their essays, I also helped students with homework and consolidation tasks. Most of the students that I provided feedback for did significantly better when the final version of their essay was drafted.This experience helped me to develop my communication skills and patience.
By reading and analysing various different texts such as academic journal articles, case studies, policy briefs and ethnographies throughout my academic career, I was able to develop my critical thinking skills and being able to construct substantive arguments in my papers. With these skills I am able to help other students develop their own critical thinking and writing skills in their own respective degree.

Bio
Currently I am a first year law student with an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Anthropology. I have plenty of experience doing critical reading and analysis of texts along with writing several academic papers. I am happy to provide one-one tutor sessions for first and second year students beginning their undergraduate degree who need help with their critical reading and writing skills.
Teaching Technique/Structure
With the one-one session (ideally around 1-2 hours) the student is free to ask any questions or other concerns that they have with their writing or reading comprehension skills. If a student is struggling with essay writing I would look at a sample of their work or the entire essay itself where I would edit their work and offer feedback to improve their writing and/or strengthen their arguments. If a student is struggling with analysing academic texts/journals we would go through it together and discuss the text along with thinking of possible questions that may be raised in seminars or final examinations.
