About AJ
Before becoming an environmental justice professor, AJ spent five years as a public school science teacher in Brooklyn. He is still a public school teacher at heart and a profound commitment to education and youth empowerment grounds his non-profit work, his scholarship, and his activism.
A.J. is a published expert on climate change adaptation and an author of the recent Routledge environmental justice textbook.

I take a strong stance on social justice, civil rights, and neglected perspectives to center my academics.
You will get the main core curriculum down pat with me, but there will always be additional interesting and neglected side topics to enrich our discussion and a meta-analysis of why those topics or voices are missing from the debate.
I have years of training in pedagogy which will help you feel more confident to participate in class and have conversations with your professor during office hours.
My tutoring is aimed at high school seniors to and through graduate students, particularly those in master's programs. These lessons are great for college students, students interested in college who want to get ahead, as well as students interested in graduate school who want to know how to get in.
