About Joao
I am a first year undergraduate law and economics student at the University of Edinburgh. I finished my IB diploma in May 2019 in which I completed an Economics Higher Level course with level 7/7. I have tutoring experience with middle school and 9th grade math, and I am willing to provide math strengthening with relation to economics. I am half Italian and Half Brazilian, but have been studying in the American and British school systems my whole life, having lived in the UK, Italy, India and China in the past 6 years. My teaching method focuses on making a list of the economic concepts that have to be known in a specific topic, and going first of all over the theoretical material in relation to those concepts. After giving a theoretical knowledge, I like to go over questions (whether essay, short answer and multiple choice) and oversee the student's process of answering the questions. I tend to emphasise the problems and questions students struggle on, and can even spend an entire session only answering 1 question. I acknowledge that every student has a different learning style and propensity to learn economics and will adapt my style to such individual traits.
