About Laurie
As a First class graduate in civil engineering student from The University of Liverpool, I am looking for a career in teaching/tutoring. I am particularly interested in teaching Microsoft Office applications because I have learnt first-hand how useful skills using these applications are in the modern working world. In my current role with Thames Water, I have been responsible for the development, maintenance of many Microsoft Excel 2007 VBA macros used by a team of approximately 15 members of staff. I have also been responsible for supporting/teaching this team with using these applications.
Why should you hire me as a tutor?
One reason I believe you should consider me is because of how broad my experience of tutoring/teaching people of different ages. During university and work, I have taught people in their late teenage years and also people in the early sixties, and have consequently had to develop different teaching styles depending on the tutees experiences and qualities.
Moreover, not only have I tutored people of different ages but also a multitude of different backgrounds. I have experience of teaching people from Africa to South America, and have learnt to adapt a tutoring style according to the audience.
Furthermore, I also have experience in teaching a broad range of IT skills. I not only have experience in teaching people with basic IT/Excel skills, but also experience in teaching people how to develop complex software applications within complex processes using Excel.

Laurie is a very insightful tutor and he gave me the belief that I could tackle the problems that I had with regard to IT skills. I entered his sessions with 5 or 6 goals that I wanted to complete, in both sessions we completed all the tasks and has some time extra to run exercises. I'd highly recommend Laurie as an educator, he's relaxed, articulate and clearly knows maths and excel in great detail
I hired Laurie to help refresh and upskill my abilities with Excel for business. I took an Excel "Heavy Lifting" course several years ago, but didn't keep using what I learned - and of course the new versions come along and everything has changed. Laurie was very patient, enabled me to learn by doing, at my own pace, and 'got' what it was I needed to understand. I'd hire him again!
