About Seulkee
About Me
Hi! I’m a Korean mom who grew up and lived in Korea before settling in New Jersey. I’m a former university Korean language instructor and a certified Korean language teacher with formal training in Korean language education.
I have always loved the Korean language and culture, and I especially enjoy helping children discover the joy of learning Korean.
As a mom raising a child in the U.S., I understand the challenges Korean-American families face when it comes to maintaining Korean. I’ve heard many parents share the same concern: their children may understand and speak Korean well when they are young, but gradually use more English as they grow.
This is one of the reasons I’m passionate about teaching Korean to children and teens. I want to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable using Korean and develop a genuine interest in the language and culture.
I’m patient, creative, and enjoy finding ways to make learning meaningful and fun. I also create my own Korean learning materials and storybooks, which I can incorporate into lessons based on each child’s age, interests, and level.
Whether your child is just beginning to learn Hangul or already understands Korean and wants to become more confident, I would love to help them build a strong foundation and develop a positive, lasting connection with the Korean language and culture.

About My Korean Lessons
My goal is not simply to teach vocabulary and grammar. I want children to develop a genuine interest in Korean, build confidence in communicating with their parents and family, and grow curious about Korean culture and their Korean heritage.
I can also teach Korean through original storybooks and learning materials that I create myself, making lessons more engaging, meaningful, and age-appropriate.
For children who are just beginning Korean, I provide a structured foundation from the very beginning. We can work step-by-step on Hangul, basic vocabulary, sentence patterns, and accurate Korean pronunciation, helping children build a strong foundation rather than simply memorizing words.
For heritage learners who already understand some Korean, I can focus on building confidence in speaking, expanding vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and developing reading and writing skills.
I especially hope to support Korean-American and heritage learners ages 3–15, from young children taking their first steps in Korean to teens who want to strengthen their Korean skills.
Through stories, games, conversation, creative activities, and Korean culture, I hope to make Korean something children look forward to—not something they feel they have to study.
