Question 1: Can you describe your teaching style? How do you foster communication with your students?
Answer 1: My teaching style is professional yet friendly and witty. Humor is essential to facilitate communication, and it creates an environment where students can express themselves more comfortably. My experience studying film and working in a TV station has taught me to express ideas in a variety of ways, and I pass this on to my students to broaden their use of Korean. This method helps them to use Korean more naturally and authentically.
Question 2: What message would you like to convey to your learners?
Answer 2: I want to tell them that it's important never to give up and to keep progressing. Whatever the obstacles, overcoming them is crucial, and I want to accompany my students in this process. I understand the difficulties of intermediate learners and want to support them so that they don't get discouraged and find solutions together.
Question 3: What is the most important value in your teaching approach?
Answer 3: The most important value for me is the 'feeling of connection'. I want to prevent students from feeling isolated in their learning, by making them feel always connected. For example, offering free Korean phone lessons every week to a student reinforces this feeling of continuous connection. This helps students not to feel alone and to maintain their motivation.
Question 4: What's the difference between a 'Korean coach' and a 'Korean teacher', in your opinion?
Answer 4: I prefer the term 'Korean coach'. Whereas a teacher can be seen as someone who passes on information, a coach plays a more comprehensive role in helping learners overcome difficulties and find their own learning path. The coach is a trusted companion who supports learners throughout their language journey, ensuring that they don't lose heart and continue to progress with confidence.
