About Afonso
Hey there, my name is Afonso. I was born in Portugal and I am now an undergraduate student at the University of Manchester. I’m studying Physics and am currently in the fourth year of my course. I am on my way to earning a First-Class (Honours) Masters in Physics and am currently loving my degree! I have always loved learning about and teaching both physics and mathematics.
During high school I helped at a local school and taught Mathematics and English to younger students for two years. I have found that teaching helps me challenge even what I assumed to be my most basic knowledge and that teaching is basically a two-way learning experience, which is very rewarding. For these reasons I am really looking forward to tutoring and helping students to succeed, especially in subjects which I myself love to learn more about and for which I am very passionate. I am determined, focused and hard working and will always try my very best to be the best teacher I can possibly be! I am considering going into a career in teaching and I think this would be a great way to gain experience in something that I truly like to do, while helping other students in achieving the grades they need so they can pursue their goals too.
All in all, I am looking forward to the experience and using all that I have been learning for so many years now. And I hope you will trust me with helping you succeed!

As a physics undergraduate currently finishing my Master's research project, I teach physics and maths from GSCE to University level.
I have tutored for 4 years now, and have encountered all types of students. This has taught me that everyone learns differently, and that it is important to adapt to each student to communicate effectively.
Furthermore, as a student I was always concerned when I was told by teacher to simply "memorize" the contents, rather than understanding them.
For these reasons, my lessons are very interactive and I always strive to make sure the student has fully understood the content.
