About Kate
I am originally from Lake Oswego, Oregon (near Portland), and chose Cal Poly because of the "learn by doing" philosophy and the reputable engineering programs they offer!
In high school, I was an umpire for my local little league, where I eventually became a head coach/team manager for the major's division team when I was a Junior in HS! I loved getting to work with the youth in a team environment, and helping them grow and seeing that progress was an incredibly meaningful experience for me.
I also was a teacher's assistant and in-class tutor for Algebra 2 during my senior year of HS, and it was a big part of what made me continue tutoring in college.
In college, I've worked with multiple clients - both in person and online - on subjects such as AP Chemistry and Algebra 2.
