About Luke
Hi! I’m Luke, a junior at the University of Texas at El Paso majoring in Special Education. I have experience working with students of different ages and learning needs, and I especially enjoy helping students with reading, writing, and math. I’m patient, encouraging, and believe learning should be a positive experience. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching students understand something they once struggled with and seeing their confidence grow. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and excited to learn!

My approach as a tutor is to be patient, encouraging, and flexible because every student learns differently. I like to explain concepts step-by-step, use examples, and give students opportunities to practice on their own while still providing support when needed.
A typical lesson would begin by reviewing what the student already knows and identifying areas where they may need extra help. We would then work through examples together, practice the skill, and finish by reviewing what they learned.
As a Special Education major at UTEP, I am learning how to adapt instruction to meet different learning needs. I also believe building confidence is just as important as improving academic skills.
My tutoring is best suited for elementary and middle school students who need additional support with reading, writing, or basic math skills.
