About Chiara
I have been teaching in Higher Education since 2013. I have experience with both small ad large groups (from one-to-one courses to classes with 30 people). I taught classes in various areas of the Humanities across different countries.
In my courses students learn key theoretical ideas in the subject taught and its related fields. Students are asked to become familiar with ethnographic methods and apply them to their assignments. For instance, in the course The Refugee Crisis: Dilemmas, Opportunities and Possibilities students explore theories in relation to Refugee definitions, regulations and legislations, but they are also able to experience some of the topics they learn through field trips, interviews and guest lectures with key figures. In doing so, I have noticed that students engage in active learning and critical thinking. I tend to privilege interdisciplinary teaching and I am willing to explore and adapt my methods to the students' needs.

I am a junior scholar with a doctorate in Anthropology and expertise in various disciplines within the humanities. My teaching philosophy and methods are inspired by a commitment to fostering critical analysis, participation and a stimulating learning environment for students from different cultural backgrounds. My pedagogical experience has been shaped by a variety of international contexts, first in Italy and later in Australia and the U.S.A, where I taught courses in Cultural Studies and Globalization, Academic writing and Indigenous History, amongst others.
When I teach I employ different methods so that students are given the opportunity to reflect and actively engage with the material. I also integrate my pedagogical practice with the use of various media, such as film, photography and audio, if possible. My methodology entails the use of critical theories, I like to assist students who facing learning difficulties and I am passionate about supporting learners in their academic endeavours. I aim for clarity in explaining difficult topics, in a way that allows me to demonstrate the relevance of the subjects I teach. At the start of each lesson I articulate clear goals, set constructive objectives and ask students to collaborate.
Primarily, I privilege methods where theory meets practice in a way that shows students viable outcomes and possible trajectories in their everyday life and future endeavors. Another important element of my pedagogical practice is grounded in critical inquiry fostered through ethnographic discussion and qualitative analysis of data. I am also available for CV and Cover Letter writing and I can offer assistance with future career prospects.
