About JC

I am currently a blended professional at Stellenbosch University (SU) who is passionate about teaching & learning and to ensure a transformative student experience in higher education. My current duties include lecturing in the Extended Degree Programme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Assistant Resident Head (Academia) and SU Welcoming Programme Coordinator, including Vensters 2020. These roles position me to manage, mentor and support students in different ways, including creating a more welcoming environment, encouraging healthy social and academic interaction, providing collaborative real-life learning opportunities and facilitating engagement in meaningful educational activities and programmes. My leadership and mentorship qualities make me a creative educational leader and strategic thinker but also a compassionate individual.

About the lesson

These roles position me to manage, mentor and support students in different ways, including creating a more welcoming environment, encouraging healthy social and academic interaction, providing collaborative real-life learning opportunities and facilitating engagement in meaningful educational activities and programmes. My leadership and mentorship qualities make me a creative educational leader and strategic thinker but also a compassionate individual.I believe in experiential learning and follow a student centered teaching approach. The latter emphases constructivism.
