About Éabha
- I started my journey with Irish when I was three in a naíonra, I attended Scoil Mológa for primary school and Coláiste Íosagáin for secondary school.
- I am currently in my third year of primary school teaching through Irish. I have completed 4 placements so far all in gaelscoileanna.
- I chose my degree as I have always dreamt of being a teacher and have always had a passion for Irish
-My degree is the very first in Ireland - the only degree where you can study primary school teaching through Irish. I have learned so much about the Irish language and how students perceive the Irish language over the last few years in college. I understand that all students learn differently and it is important when learning a language to also feel confident with using the language.
- I believe it is very important when using a language to be be immersed in the language just like what is done in Junior and senior infants of a Gaelscoil. Meaning I will complete my lessons all through Irish. I will ensure that the student understands me and will use English if required

As I am studying Irish education in college and have also been a student immersed in Irish education I am equipped with all the information to give students the best possible knowledge of the language.
Lesson Plans
I have completed many modules in college all about how to efficiently prepare and cater for students needs. All lesson plans will be 100% unique for each individual student, after our first lesson I will create a long term scheme to ensure the student is learning what they need.
These lessons are for any student of any age.
Primary school-
As I am currently studying primary school teaching in Irish and have completed 4 placements and have also worked full time as a substitute teacher for the last two years in June, I have plenty of experience with students of this age. As I have worked in both English and Irish primary schools I have gathered a lot of information on what the students are falling behind in. I think it is important for students of all levels to be able to hold a conversation in Irish and to be able to write in Irish using correct grammar prior to attending secondary school.
Secondary school-
The oral exam counts for 40% in both the junior and leaving certificate, this is a major focus in my lessons. As a student who received a 100% in my oral in the leaving cert I know the benefit of scoring high in your oral has on your written exam. The oral exam is the perfect opportunity for those who struggle with grammar and/or writing to gather points and to feel more confident on the day of their written exam.
Written exam - However the written exam is also extremely important. I have seen first hand how grammar can affect students. Many students don’t feel confident with their written abilities in Irish. I will provide plenty of notes and H1 examples for students to study in between grinds. I will focus on grammar and how to feel confident in showing of their abilities and knowledge of the language in their written pieces.
