About Kiara
I am an honor's student studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biokinetics at the University of Johannesburg. I also have an undergraduate background in public health and epidemiology. I have been tutoring for over five years now in many different and sometimes challenging settings. I have worked with a wide variety of students, which has enriched my understanding of education.
In my own education process I always felt that the way concepts were taught needed to be improved, modernized and made relevant to students. Not all students learn the same way and this is often not considered in our education systems. I also felt that what we were taught and what we were examined on had a disconnect that made test and exam prep difficult. While a good work ethic is the key to being a successful student, the way you study and prepare is the secret key to academic success. In matric I achieved five distinctions which would not have been possible without learning how to answer questions the way examiners expect. I take my student's learning journey personally and I am invested in my students' progress.

My lessons always center around my student's individual needs and according to their learning or studying study.
Our introductory lesson will include a baseline assessment to gauge how on par the student is with the curriculum. If some fundamental concepts or knowledge is missing our follow up lessons will address this.
Once the foundation is solid, the student and I will set goals for the subject, this will be very specific and will look at the tasks, assessments and exams that will need to be tackled in order to achieve the goals.
I am very intent on trying my best to ensure that the student has a real practical understanding of what I am teaching them while also focusing on working on strategies to answering exam questions.
