About Priya
I am a 4th year medical student at JCU, and though I enjoy medicine - I very much miss my maths! I have done mentoring throughout highschool and participate in various study groups within my course, where I have gained skills in teaching other students whilst enhancing leadership and communication skills. I have done various volunteer mentoring in the past involving chess and maths. I have also assisted students with their university applications and interview preparations, many of which have been successful!

My teaching method varies depending on whether it is individual teaching or group teaching. It also depends on the student's depth of knowledge in a particular subject. One of the important aspects of teaching is to not give away the answers too quickly. It is important to get the students to think about an answer and try various times before giving away a solution. This enhances their learning and allows them to apply their thinking procedures and techniques for when they see new questions in a test or exam! With group teaching I often enjoy using Kahoot quizzes involving multiple choice questions, getting students to think quickly one their feet. This can often be a more fun and relaxing way to learn, helping students enjoy the subject and therefore become better at it.
