- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Contemporary Vocals, specialising in musical theatre, rock and pop.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have the following:
PhD in Contemporary Vocals;
Master's Degree in Contemporary Vocals in Education;
Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Vocals;
Cert.Ed (Further, Adult and Higher Education).
Professional Diploma in Hypnotherapy;
Professional Diploma in Aromatherapy.
(I use these additional skills to help students)
- How much do you charge?
Lessons cost £35.00 per 50-minute session. I also offer a consultation (30-40 minutes) for £25.00, which includes access to a range of resources to get you started down the road to vocal training.
- Where do you teach?
My teaching studio is at my home in Worcester, just outside of the town centre. The studio is accessible from both Shrub Hill and Worcester Foregate Street stations (approximately a 10-15 minute walk from either, with taxi services readily available outside each station).
Access from the M5 is straightforward - exit at Junction 6, then take the A449 towards Worcester / Kidderminster. Take the first exit off the dual carriageway - signposted Blackpole. Turn left at the end of the sliproad. Go straight on at the traffic lights, then take the second exit at the roundabout. Turn right at the T-junction, then left at the mini-roundabout. Keep going to the top of the hill, and turn right into Lansdowne Road at the crest of the hill. Parking is freely available outside the house, or take the first left off Lansdowne Road and you will usually find plenty of parking there.
- When are you available?
Appointments are at 10am, 11am, 12pm, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday, subject to availability. I am occasionally available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach at all levels from complete beginner to highly experienced professionals and advanced singers. I do not teach anyone below the age of 14.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I do not teach one-to-one online. However, students wishing to take online courses can view a range of available high-level courses by visiting my website.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
The biggest fear that people have about singing lessons is having no confidence, or that they will be made to sound 'like an opera singer'. I promise you that I will help you to overcome your confidence issues. Further to that, my business is in training contemporary vocalists - I don't want you to sound like an opera singer either!
