About Juanita
Completing my degree at Berklee gave me the tools to understand the piano from a structural perspective. I remember sitting at a grand piano in my small studio listening to a student attempt a complex jazz cadence for the first time. My work involves guiding adults and teens through the nuances of hand independence and rhythm.
Absolute beginners often arrive with nerves but we settle into a steady pace quickly. I use my 13 years of experience to break down music theory and scales into manageable segments. Whether we are working on sight transposition or basic accompaniment skills I keep the atmosphere relaxed.
Many of my 426 students find that mastering chord voicing is the most rewarding part of their training. Ear training is also a major focus during our time together at the keys. I stay patient while we work on your pedaling technique or any other technical hurdles. I hope to see you soon to start your journey into jazz standards.
