About Leila
I am an internationally active visual artist with a multidisciplinary background spanning painting, sculpture, media art and Art in Context. I began my artistic education in Iran, studying painting, and continued my studies in Germany in sculpture, Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, and Art in Context in Berlin.
Over the course of my career, I have exhibited internationally across Europe, the Middle East and beyond, working in very different cultural and artistic environments. My practice has included painting, sculpture, installation, neon, text, photography, public interventions and conceptual projects, and my work has been presented in museums, galleries, institutions and international exhibitions.
My work has also received extensive international media and press attention. This experience has given me an understanding not only of how an artwork develops, but also of how an artist builds a coherent practice, communicates their ideas, presents their work professionally and positions themselves within the wider contemporary art world.
Having studied and worked across different countries and disciplines has strongly shaped the way I teach. I am particularly interested in helping young artists discover what is genuinely specific about their own perspective rather than encouraging them to imitate an existing artistic language.
I bring my experience as a practising international artist into each lesson, helping students develop ideas, critically understand their work, build a distinctive artistic voice, and translate that voice into a compelling portfolio and art-school application.

Absolutely — the strongest angle is that you’re not simply teaching technique; you’re helping emerging artists understand what they want to say, why it matters, and how to turn that into a distinctive body of work. That makes the portfolio/application part much more convincing too.
Art Portfolio & Developing Your Artistic Voice
I offer individual online tutoring for students and emerging artists who want to prepare a strong portfolio and application for art school, as well as for those who want to develop a more distinctive and personal artistic practice.
My approach goes beyond simply selecting works for a portfolio. I help students understand what makes their work their own: which subjects genuinely matter to them, how they see the world around them, and how their experiences, questions and environment can become material for art.
Together, we look at art in context — contemporary art, art history, public space, social and cultural environments, and the student’s own private world. We explore how an observation, experience, object, place or question can be developed into an artistic idea and eventually into a coherent body of work.
For students applying to art schools, I can help with portfolio development and selection, project ideas, artistic statements, application texts and preparation for interviews. Rather than trying to make a portfolio look like what an art school supposedly wants, my aim is to help each student make their individual perspective visible.
For students who are still searching for their direction, our lessons can become a space for experimentation and discussion. We can develop new projects together, analyse existing work, discuss references and find connections between personal interests and wider artistic, cultural or social questions.
My goal is to help each student gradually develop their own artistic language and signature — work that feels relevant to the world they live in while remaining unmistakably their own.
