About Kuba
My Bio:
Classically trained jazz double bassist Kuba Dworak (b. 1991 in Poland, lives in Brooklyn, NY) constantly tours internationally and has performed globally, including at Blue Note New York, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and Nine Gates International Jazz Festival, among others.
Coming from a musical and artistic family, Kuba was brought up playing music. He started with piano at six years old, then discovered his love for double bass at thirteen, beginning with classical and soon continuing with jazz. While still a student, he had the pleasure of working with leading musicians internationally including: Urszula Dudziak, Krystyna Prońko, Janusz Muniak, Larry Livingston, Ernie Watts, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard, David Binney, and Mark Turner. His theater and art collaborations include an Art Basel commission for William Kentridge.
Kuba completed his BA and MA education specializing in jazz double bass at the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music at the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. He holds a second MA degree in jazz double bass and music production from the Music Academy in Basel (Jazz Campus), Switzerland, where he studied with Larry Grenadier. To ground his commitment to wellbeing and wellness, Kuba completed a third MA, this time in pedagogy and composition where he wrote a thesis on neuroathletic training and the art of playing double bass.
Kuba sees music as a powerful tool for connectedness and promoting trust, empathy, and relief from stress. He is spiritual and pushes himself to constantly learn about new cultures and religions, building an understanding about the world. He strives for harmony. He also loves motorcycles, plants, and world history.

My teaching method is grounded in and informed by my education in MA in Pedagogy at the Music Academy in Basel (Jazz Campus), Switzerland, where I specialized in neuroathletic training. I design individual lesson plans, catered towards each student. I place emphasis on technique and posture. Besides the music itself, these are the two most important things when learning and playing double bass.
I have extensive experience teaching children as young as 5 years old, teenagers, and adults. This experience includes my work in 2011-2013 at the Silesian Philharmonic in Poland. Later, in 2015-2016 I thought at a Music School in Tarnów, at a primary and middle school level. Most recently, besides individual lessons for adults, I thought children and teenagers aged 10-16 years old at the Swiss International School in Basel, Switzerland. I had an honor to also teach classes for the Pre-College students at the Music Academy in Basel (Jazz Campus), Switzerland.
