About Miriam
I am an award-winning jazz singer and stage musician with over ten years of professional experience and an international background. In 2018 I released my debut album 'Secret Songs' and this year I will release my next album 'Tales & Tongues' with my new jazz trio. In addition to my own bands, I have sung in many international projects and with musicians such as Stan Sulzmann, Nikki Iles, Tori Freestone, Alex Merritt Quintet, Jamil Sherriff, Giora Feidman, Klezmers Techter and Ast/Gutierrez Duo.
I have lived in London as a professional musician for the last six years and completed my Masters degree with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2016.
For the last four years I was a senior lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire and have also taught singing at King's College London, University of Leeds and at Kingston Music Service in London. I have lived in Freiburg since 2021 and teach at the Freiburg Jazz and Rock School and at the Freiburg University of Music.

Singing lessons for beginners and advanced/professionals with an interest in further education in the field of jazz singing and improvisation!
As an international singing teacher and professional jazz singer, I have been able to develop my teaching methods with students at the Leeds Conservatoire, University of Leeds and King's College London for several years. Since moving to Germany, I have been working at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg as lecturer.
In my lessons you will learn:
An individual and effective singing technique through unique singing exercises specially tailored to you in the areas of breathing technique, projection, resonance, articulation and vocal timbre.
As a professional jazz singer and stage musician, I will work with you on a variety of phrasing techniques in swing, latin and groove jazz, and expand your melodic and rhythmic vocabulary together with you. We will also work intensively on your interpretation of jazz songs and intensifying the expression of your voice.
I have been composing my own pieces and writing lyrics to my songs for many years. I know how much courage it takes to start. I will provide you with songwriting tools and methods that will help you get started with composing new songs and lyrics, to finally finish old songs and to start getting creative.
As a studied jazz saxophonist, my focus is on improvisation. We will improvise over standards together. I'll teach you the art of scat singing and vocal improvisation! You'll learn to expand your musical freedom with this material and you will become a better musician!
