About Nyah
Hi, I’m Nyah, a recent University of Melbourne graduate and prospective Masters of teaching student. After recently completing my Bachelor of Arts in French and Linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in French, I’m working as an Integration Aide, providing 1:1 and small group classroom support to students.
I know that school can feel challenging or overwhelming at times, but in my sessions, every student feels seen and heard and I strive to make the content more accessible.
I have a real passion for teaching and helping students to feel confident in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals.

It can be scary to speak French in front of your teacher or peers and confronting to hear or read a block of text where not all the words are familiar. As a tutor, my aim is therefore to provide a safe and comfortable space where students have the chance to practice and learn without fear of judgment. Through tailored listening, speaking, reading, writing and vocabulary practice, I work with students to ensure they feel confident and capable in all areas of the French language. All sessions are student-directed, where students are free to bring questions or provide topics they'd like to cover in advance. I have experience tutoring high school students and mentoring university students, as well as having spent time in both high school and French-English bilingual primary school environments as a teaching assistant. As a result, I have a deep understanding of student needs and the challenges posed by the French learning environment and the ways in which these can be overcome. I am deeply committed to my students and providing them with the best learning experience possible. I also have experience working with the Association of French teachers in Victoria on the development of pedagogical resources, meaning I have an in-depth understanding of the behind-the-scenes of the curriculum and its demands on students. Available for 1 hour tutoring sessions for year 7-12 students online.
