About Abdihafid
I’m a Mathematics and Computer Science student at the University of Birmingham with a strong interest in quantitative research and financial modelling. My goal is to become a quantitative researcher, combining analytical thinking with creativity to solve complex real-world problems. I recently completed an internship at IBM, where I explored how data, AI, and automation are transforming industries — an experience that deepened my passion for applied maths and technology. As someone who once struggled to grasp certain concepts myself, I understand how frustrating learning can be. Tutoring is my way of giving back — helping others find clarity and confidence in subjects that once challenged me, while also supporting myself financially through university.

My lessons are built around a “fail and learn” approach — I believe the best way to truly understand something is by making mistakes, analysing them, and improving from there. This method builds confidence and resilience, helping students think independently rather than just memorising answers. I usually start by assessing how a student thinks through problems, then guide them with tailored examples and questions that challenge their understanding at the right level. Lessons typically last an hour, but I adapt them to suit each student’s pace and learning style. Everyone learns differently, so I always aim to be patient, flexible, and encouraging throughout the process.
