About Lydia
I am a singing tutor with 6 years of experience and a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I have taught approximately 200 students across Classical, Pop, Rock, Musical Theatre, and Jazz styles. My lessons develop genuine vocal technique including breath support, pitch accuracy, resonance, tone shaping, and performance confidence. I am particularly skilled at helping students build confidence in their voice and express themselves authentically through music. My approach is warm, practical, and always tailored to the unique characteristics of each student's voice and goals. I use recording software and vocal tracking apps to give students objective and motivating feedback on their progress. I also teach music theory relevant to singers including scales, intervals, and basic harmony. I have helped students succeed in musical theatre auditions, choir placements, and professional recording sessions. My singing lessons follow a consistent structure that warms, develops, and challenges the voice in every single session. I begin with a full vocal warm-up including breathing exercises, resonance scales, and gentle interval work to prepare the voice safely. I assess each new student's voice type, range, and current technique so lessons are personalised from the very start. Breath management is the central focus of all my early teaching because it is the foundation of all great vocal production. Pitch exercises and melodic patterns sharpen intonation and develop musical ear progressively and enjoyably. Students working on Contemporary styles focus on stylistic delivery, runs, riffs, and microphone technique. Classical students develop resonance, diction, posture, and the technical demands of formal examination and concert performance. I record short performance samples regularly so students can track their vocal development over time. Performance preparation covers stage confidence, emotional connection, and managing audition pressure. I am dedicated to helping every student sing with freedom, confidence, and genuine artistic expression.
