About Olivia
I am a passionate piano tutor with 8 years of teaching experience, working with high school students, college learners, and adults. Over the years, I have successfully taught around 300 students, helping them build strong musical skills and confidence. My journey as a teacher has been filled with dedication, patience, and a deep love for music.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can learn music with the right guidance and support. I believe that learning piano is not only about playing notes correctly but also about understanding music, expressing emotions, and enjoying the process. I focus on building strong fundamentals such as hand position, rhythm, sight-reading, and technique. At the same time, I encourage creativity and personal expression.
In my classes, I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning pace and goals. Some students prepare for school performances or music exams, while others learn piano as a hobby. I create structured lesson plans but remain flexible so students feel comfortable and motivated. I also help students understand music theory and how it connects to practical playing.
One of my proud achievements is seeing many of my students perform confidently on stage and improve their skills within a short time. Some have achieved high grades in music exams, while others have overcome stage fear and built strong confidence. My goal is to create a positive and inspiring learning environment where students feel encouraged to grow.
Teaching piano is not just my profession; it is my passion. I am committed to helping every student reach their full musical potential.

My piano teaching approach is centred on Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I understand that each student learns differently. Some students respond best to visual sheet music, others to listening and repetition, and some through guided practice. I adjust my lessons to match these learning styles so that students feel comfortable and confident.
I focus on strong foundations such as correct posture, finger technique, scales, rhythm accuracy, and musical expression. I break difficult pieces into small sections and teach them step by step. Flexibility allows me to adjust the lesson pace based on the student’s progress and understanding.
Collaboration is important in my lessons. I involve students in goal setting and selecting pieces that suit their level and interests. This keeps them motivated and responsible for their progress. I maintain a positive and encouraging environment where mistakes are seen as part of growth.
In addition to piano, I also teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and keyboard harmony. These related subjects strengthen overall musicianship and help students become confident performers.
