About Amanda
I have 4 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. Since beginning my teaching career, I have helped students develop confidence by presenting algebra through clear explanations, engaging activities, and structured learning experiences. I enjoy helping learners discover that algebra is approachable when taught through logical steps and practical examples.
One learner initially struggled with solving algebraic equations involving distance, speed, and time because organizing multiple variables within word problems felt overwhelming. My teaching philosophy is founded on making algebra understandable through conceptual learning, practical application, and continuous encouragement. Before beginning lessons, I evaluate each student's mathematical knowledge, confidence level, learning style, study habits, and academic objectives. Based on this assessment, I design individualized lesson plans that strengthen essential algebra skills while gradually introducing more advanced concepts through organized and engaging instruction.
Students receive comprehensive instruction in algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, polynomial operations, factorization, rational expressions, radicals, exponents, logarithms, systems of equations, quadratic relationships, sequences, and algebraic modeling. Lessons combine conceptual explanations, visual demonstrations, collaborative discussions, structured practice, independent problem-solving, and regular revision activities. Students are encouraged to explain their mathematical reasoning, compare different solution methods, and identify relationships that improve conceptual understanding and long-term retention.
Lessons regularly incorporate practical examples from software engineering, economics, construction planning, healthcare systems, financial management, environmental studies, and transportation networks to demonstrate how algebra supports everyday decision-making and professional careers. Students complete personalized assignments, cumulative review exercises, concept assessments, and detailed progress evaluations that reinforce learning while promoting continuous improvement.
